You can get to Metallist by bus 251 from Defense Street. There is a bus stop in front of Rossiya shopping mall at the side of the street with even numbers. It's in front of a nine-storey apartment house at 2 Defense Street ("ulitsa Oboronnaya" in Russian)
Get on the (crowded) bus at Rossiya shopping mall bus stop.
The bus will take you past Druzhba Hotel, along Marx Street, past May Day Park to Metallist.
It will arrive to the end station in about 45 minutes.
The bus fare is mere 35 C (2.50 UAH).
As a matter of fact, if I were a well-to-do foreigner, I would not get into any bus, but would merely take a taxi at any bus stop or taxi stand and spend a couple of hours visiting Metallist.
You can also hire a cab by hour. It might cost you $25-$30 an hour.
So if you wish to have a good idea of Metallist and its subordinated villages in the vicinity, a taxi would be the best solution, even if it's a bit more expensive than the crowded bus (full of the deft local pickpockets, by the way, like any local bus).
