Finished around 1972 and built to consolidate all the various scattered office workers who kept the LDS church running, this building has dominated the skyline since it first reached taller than all the others.

With two lower wings and one central tower the building houses office workers involved in music, magazines, the bishops offices and welfare, employment, translation, missionary, films, temple building and more. With one exception, security concerns have prompted the building tower to be restricted to workers and those who have business there.

The large lobby is worth a look. It has a beautiful mural depicting "The Great Commission" Jesus Christ gave to his apostles to "Go Ye into all the World and Preach my Gospel". Originally painted by Harry Anderson and reproduced in the lobby by Grant Romney Clawson the chairs in front of it are a wonderful place to sit and contemplate the life and influence of Jesus.

Visitors are also able to take a free tour from the lobby to the 26th floor where views of the Capitol, Great Salt Lake and the city to the south give you a bird's eye view.

Outside to the south is the Church Office Plaza, filled with a jetted fountain surrounded by seasonal flowers, sculpture and landscaping.

Lobby visitor hours year-round: Monday–Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and April through September 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–2 p.m. April through September. Call 1-801-240-1000 for more visitor information.
