"Budapest Railway Stations" Budapest Transportation Tip by johngayton
Budapest Transportation: 557 reviews and 581 photos
Budapest has three mainline railways stations (palyaudvar is station in Hungarian), Keleti (east), Deli (south) and Nyugati (west). From these you can access not just the national services but also Europe-wide ones. Each of the stations has an International ticket office (as well as a tourist office) and by all accounts staff are extremely helpful in searching for the best tickets deals.
The stations each have connecting Metro stations and are on main bus and tram lines
I haven't, as yet, used the Hungarian trains but the website (with options in English and German) seems simple enough and has useful information on ticketing and overnight journeys.
