"Diving the best" Papua Province Sports & Outdoors Tip by Mara_2
Papua Province Sports & Outdoors: 2 reviews and 2 photos
Raja Ampat is known as the most biodiverse area in the world and it is a Marine Park!
It is the home of the majority of the world's reef-building corals; there are over 700 species of mollusks and 1,397 species of fish.
The zone raughly include the area of four islands: Waigeo, Misool, Salawati and Batanta.
There are various types of dives: current, wall, slopes, muck, macro, wide-angle... you choose!
The number of dive sites is incredible! It seems that everyplace you put your head underwater is an amazing dive-site! There are so many of them that it is impossible to visit them all just in one trip. The dive teams choose the sites taking into consideration the period, the waether, the currents, even the moon phase!!
We saw mantas, sharks, napoleon, bat, lion fishes; nudibranches, pigmey sea-horses, live shells, shrimps, cuttlefishes, squids... you name it! All this surrounded bu the most beautiful and colorful corals, gorgonias and sponges!!!
If you are a divers you cannot miss it!
Equipment: As you can see from my introduction page for this destination, we were on board of MSY Seahorse and in Misool eco Resort and both can rent you the equipment if you let them know you need it when you're booking.
The organization the diving is really good: everything is managed perfectly: you just have to enjoy your dives!
We prefer our own, so we brought everything with us.
