"Raouché Rock" Beirut Things to Do Tip by mikey_e

Raouché Rock is the defining natural attraction of Beirut. The rock is also known as Pigeon’s Rock (Raouché is the name of the neighbourhood of Beirut; a pigeon is hamama in Arabic). This windswept natural attraction doesn’t really have much of a draw for any other reason than the beautiful contrast between the jagged white surface of the outcropping and the brilliant blue of the waters that surround it. Everyone who visits the city of Beirut comes here to get a few pictures of the rock, and the hustlers know this too (there are plenty of them looking to be able to snap your picture for a fee). I don’t think that there’s much swimming in the waters around the Rock, although you can find private beaches not too far off from it.
Address: General de Gaulle
Directions: Almost at the western most point of the city
