Luis Vaz de Camoes (c. 1524 ? June 10, 1580) is considered Portugal's, and the Portuguese language's greatest poet, a kind of Portuguese version of Shakespeare. He's most remembered for his poem Os Lusíadas ("The Lusiads") which accounts the exploits of the Portuguese navigators of the 16th century.
