Volkstheater Ges.mbH, Vienna: 3 reviews and 7 photos

The Volkstheater (roughly translated as "People's Theater") was founded in 1889 by request of the citizens of Vienna as a ?civic counterpart? to the present-day Burgtheater (then the Imperial Court Theater). The building is an example of the Baroque Revival (or Neo-Baroque) style. It is located in Neubau (Vienna's 7th district) -- and is the site of stops on both the U2 and U3 subway lines.

Today, the Volkstheater has 970 seats -- and is one of the largest theaters in the German-speaking countries.

Address: Neustiftgasse 1, 1070 Vienna
Directions: In Neubau (7th district). The Volkstheater is easily accessible as the site of stops on both the U2 and U3 subway lines.
