Burgos Cathedral was built in what is known as French Gothic style. It began construction in 1221 and is said to have been completed in 1230, however it was actually three hundred years in the making to where we see it today.

It is really big and really beautiful with so many intricate and ornate fixtures and fittings both on the exterior and interior that it wil take your breath away. From the intricately carved choir stalls, to the statues of the twelve apostles in the transept, to the Corinthian Tabernacle to the magnificent flamboyant Gothic Chapel of the Condestable which was built as a tomb for Pedro FernŠndez de Velasco, 2nd Count of Haro, Condestable of Castile and his family, and everything else in between, this magnificent cathedral will amaze you.

Here at the Cathedral de Burgos, you will also find the final resting place of El Cid and his wife, interred here in 1919.
