The city of Rabat just borders with Mdina on its southern side, so the cities are usually visited together. The name Rabat is derived from the Semitic word for suburb.

One of the highlights of Rabat is the Baroque style St. Paul's Church, which dates back to the 17th century.

It stands above a grotto St. Paul is said to have taken refuge after his shipwreck on Malta.

Directions:
Rabat's St. Paul's Church is located at the St. Paul's Square right in the centre of Rabat. It is only about 15 Minutes on foot from Mdina's Man Gate.
