Latteria: "Inexpensive and Comforting" Latteria di San Marco Tip by Rixie

Latteria di San Marco, Milan: 3 reviews and 0 photos

We had our first friendly hot meal in Milan here on a cold, rainy day: big plates of fusilli Bolognese, for 4 euros each! The food was good, and with wine and one caffe, the total tab was 13.50. Amazing. The staff made us feel very welcome, and we were the only tourists in the place.

It was interesting to watch what is apparently a local custom - a kind of express coffee break. The coffee bar was just inside the door and only wide enough for two people to stand side by side (three people sideways). Local 20-somethings would breeze in, order a tiny cup of espresso, chat with the bartender while they downed it, and with a cheerful "Ciao!" they were off again. The whole routine took 10 minutes, tops.

We meant to go back again during our stay in Milan, but we ran out of time.
