Trattoria Menechina: "Milanese Specialties" Trattoria Brasera Meneghina Tip by Rixie

Trattoria Brasera Meneghina, Milan: 1 reviews and 0 photos

This is a family-run restaurant in the Magenta district that was recommended by our hotel. The mother does the cooking, the dad is the greeter, and the son waits on the customers. The food is excellent, but don't expect a lot of conversation. The son speaks English but is a man of few words even in Italian.

The restaurant is open for dinner only and doesn't kick into gear until late in the evening. We were the only ones there at 7:30 pm, but by the time we left, the tables had started to fill up with locals: older couples and groups of young friends.

Favorite Dish: The Milanese specialties were wonderful; Mama is a great cook! For primi piatti, we had ravioli stuffed with sweet pumpkin puree - really, really good. For secondi piatti, we ordered the braised beef with polenta. The meat was falling-apart tender, and the polenta had a touch of nutmeg in it.
