Széchenyi Chain Bridge (Széchenyi lánchid in Hungarian) is located between Roosevelt Square on the Pest side and Adam Clark Square on the Buda side of the city across River Danube. It is the first permanent bridge to be constructed in the city. The bridge was designed by William Tierney Clark and was constructed in the middle of the 19th century. The Chain Bridge was named after István Széchenyi.

Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge and is the most famous bridge in the city. It is approximately 370 meter long with a middle span of approximately 200 meters. It was constructed of wrought iron on its suspension and stones on its towers. Both sides of the bridge have passageways for pedestrians with wonderful views of River Danube especially at night.
