"Metro" D.C. Metro Tip by iaint

D.C. Metro, Washington D.C.: 152 reviews and 175 photos

We took the Metro from the Metro Centre stop on the orange line as far as West Falls Church, going out to Dulles.

As usual in a strange city, figuring out how/what you pay is tricky. We tried to buy from a booth, but she sent us to the machine. Fortunately Gillybob is better at that stuff than me (I think she?d done some prep on the internet) and we got tickets OK.

It all seemed safe enough, and comfortable & clean. It was midday, so no crowds to worry about.

At WFC you have to get off and take a bus. We waited about 20 minutes. All in all , it took more than an hour.

Maybe we didn?t figure it out, but seems you can?t buy a ticket all the way. You pay the bus driver again.

One word of warning - there are no public toilets (oops...restrooms) at WFC. Go before you leave. I?d had too much coffee, and ended up in the bushes behind the station.
