Puerta del Reloj offers a great dramatic entranceway to an architectural marvel awaiting your exploration: Cartagena. It's almost a bit of a Disney effect but make no mistake, this is the original gateway to the inner walled town and was called appropriately enough, Boca del Puenta. The picturesque clock tower is a 1888 addition perhaps to offset the loss of the drawbridge that once connected Getsemani over the now gone moat.

There are nice views of it from Paseo de los Martires, a concrete plaza with a few tasteful monuments that offers up many photographic opportunities.
