"Barcelona Colom" Mirador De Colom - Columbus Monument Tip by grayfo

This photo was taken across the road from the Colum. You can see the statue of Christopher Columbus overlooking Port Vell harbour, pointing seaward, strangely, the statue stands proudly pointing towards the sea, East, not West (to the Americas). Celebrated as a Spanish hero Christopher Columbus (Christobal Colon) was in fact Italian. The statue was built in 1888 for the Universal Exhibition and towers 60 metres.
