I remember playing against Armagh R.F.C. both for Lurgan and Malone R.F.C. in Belfast, and hard fought games they were too. Should you have an interest in the oval ball, you could do worse than get yourself along to the Palace grounds either to play (like all clubs, new members are always welcome) or just spectate with a pint in your hand. Unfortunately, injury and the advancing years mean that the latter is my only involvement in rugby these days. Still, it's not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Armagh is one of the older clubs in Ireland, having been formed in 1875 and for many years played on the Mall in the centre of town. This was not really a viable option for several reasons and in 1973 they acquired the current pitches at Palace Grounds. They have had a bit of an up and down time since then, which is well documented in the attached website although they did win the Junior Cup in 2006.

The Club now has a thriving mini section and a Ladies team and from memory they were always a friendly bunch as Ulster rugby people tend to be, so get yourself along and don't forget your boots!

Address: Palace Grounds, Armagh, BT60 4EN
Directions: From the centre of town, follow the signs for Omagh, go past the Police Station and the big Hotel on the left and the Club is the entrance immediately after the hotel.
