the historic natchez trace parkway crosses SR 16 near the town of carthage. this 444 mile scenic parkway begins near nashville tennessee and terminates near natchez mississippi. the natchez trace was originally a native american trail. later is was used by white explorers and slave traders. along the trace are numerous historic sites and nature trails. if you are not in a hurry the natchez trace parkway is a beautiful road to take though the state of mississippi.
