I don't want to warn you about the obvious but if you go out tramping through the desert bring your own supplies because with the exception of a few mirages (which I actually saw) there just isn't any water in the desert. Oh, and if you feel like eating dirt there is plenty of it...so besides your occassional fox there isn't any food. I suppose you could always chase a camel down but that may tick a clan of Bedouins off and you don't want that.
