"Akbari Mosque (Jama Masjid)" Amer Things to Do Tip by MM212

Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1569, Akbari Masjid is the grand mosque (Jama Masjid) of Amber. It is said that this is where the Emperor stopped to pray on his way to Ajmer for an annual pilgrimage. The mosque was built in the typical Mughal style, with triple onion domes and arches opening onto a courtyard. Four minarets rise from the corners of the structure. The Mughal style of the mosque is quite a contrast to the numerous Hindu temples nearby.
