From 2001 at this location the Market Coffee house was a great traditional place for a cozy cup of coffee. The oldest part of the building dates from 1670. The building was known as the Percy Dalton building.
The basement kitchen is improved and enlarged; on the first floor a dining area has been added.

2012 Update: I was informed by Emily Eavermont that the name was changed into "The English Restaurant", but still independently owned by Peter and Kay Sinden.

The restaurant offers cooked breakfasts, lunches, afternoon tea and dinner menus. A licensed bar is available.
