"Phitsanulok is a provincial..." Thailand Off The Beaten Path Tip by jaec

Thailand Off The Beaten Path: 267 reviews and 235 photos

Phitsanulok is a provincial city about 377 km north of Bangkok. I arrived there as it is the closest train station to the old capital of Sukhothai. What I found was one of the highlights of my trip. The monastery of Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat was founded in 1357 AD. The wat contains one of the most beautiful buddha images in Thailand the Phra Buddha Chinnarat.
