simply the best steak in America Ever! (off course the kobe beef porterhouse steaks of japan are the best in the world!). i took many pictures so will do a three part tips of the steakhouse to post the pics.

Peter Luger Steakhouse is the yard stick in America to Compare A Great Steakhouse when it opens as this iconic Joint in Williamsburg Area of Queens is 129 years old and still is going strong! It even has a Single Michelin Star to boot. They are such sticklers for quality that everyday, their in house butchers go to various meathouses to source top quality USDA Prime Rib and only about 2% of them are stamp with their iconic seal and they go to their in house dry aging facilities (here in Williamsburg and in Great NecK) and where they are dry aged for 21 days as such producing an intense beefy and meaty flavor when cooked, unlike most steakhouses which uses wet ageing.

Their menu list is limited, mostly steaks like Roast Prime Rib, Chopped Sirloin Steak and a few Seafood like Atlantic Sole Fillet and Salmon and lamb chops. but practically 90% of people who go to Peter Luger Steakhouse order their best sellers like the Sliced Tomato with Peter Luger Sauce, Luger's Sizzling Bacon, Ceasar Salad, the complimentary chocolate coins and the piece de resistance: The USDA Prime Dry Aged Porterhouse Steaks that can be ordered Single Steak and Steak For Two, Steak for Three or Steak For Four! medium rare or medium (they don't do medium well or well done here) that are put in their proprietary sizzling plate and served with their in house tangy and sweet Peter Luger Steak Sauce.

you really need to call them in advance for reservations for lunch and dinner as they are full during all hours (even at off peak time).

They only acept cash or their in house credit cards.
Opens: 11;30 am to 9:30 pm everyday

Favorite Dish: the porterhouse steak medium rare for two is the best and is the most copied around the world! a porterhouse for two order is $ 95 and a Porterhouse for 4 is $ 180, the famous Tomato and Onions with peter luger sauce at $ 12.99 an order, the to die for extra thich sizzling bacon at $ 14.99 an order. ceasar's salad at $ 11.99 an order, heck you can even buy their famous peter luger sauce in bottles to take away with you!

according to their website:

When "Carl Luger's Café, Billiards and Bowling Alley" was opened in 1887, the restaurant quickly became a neighborhood favorite in predominantly German Williamsburg. Peter Luger owned the establishment, while his nephew, Carl, manned the kitchen. Luger's was not the only thing doing in the small Brooklyn neighborhood. With the opening of the Williamsburg Bridge in December of 1903, Manhattan became far more accessible and a new crowd of businessmen crossed the East River.

Forman Family made everything from silverware to trays to stamped-metal giftware. The manufacturing site, at 185 Broadway, served as a headquarters for sales, and what better place for Sol Forman to take prospective clients than the famed restaurant just across the street? Sol was known to eat two steaks a day ? three when the trade shows came through. So when the restaurant fell into disrepair following the death of Peter Luger, Sol was faced with the unhappy task of finding another lunch spot for his clients. Instead, he decided to try his luck at the auction of Peter Luger's, and was the only one who did. Alone at the auction, Sol was able to purchase the restaurant for the price of the real estate.

Soon enough, Sol had Peter Luger's back to its former glory, and its been on top ever since. Still under Forman family management, the restaurant has been rated the top steakhouse in New York for 28 years and running, has earned itself a Michelin Star, and has joined the ranks of American classics.
