Hokanji, also known as Yasaka Pagoda is a scenic pagoda that has lost the actual temple that once accompanied it! It was once a very influential temple, and there are relics of the Buddha inside, along with Buddhist statues. The pagoda was last built in 1440.

The pagoda is located in the historic Higashiyama area between Kodaiji and Kiyomizu Temples. From the grounds of Kodaiji Temple, you can get a great view of Yasaka Pagoda towering above the surrounding buildings.
