"North Stradbroke Island" North Stradbroke Island Tip by Fordcore

North Stradbroke Island, Brisbane: 4 reviews and 3 photos

Want to head to the beach, but don't want to deal with the crowds of douchebags in the Gold Coast? Catch a ferry to 'Straddie' from Cleveland. You can take a car, but you don't need one- there are buses directly from the ferry stop to the other side of the island where you can experience some of the finest crystal blue water in all of Oz. There's a place to rent surfboards too if that's your thing.

This place is also swimming with nature- literally! I saw a giant sea turtle and a manta ray from the cliff top. If you head at the right time, you might see humpback whales migrating up the coast. If you keep an eye out you might also see koalas and kangaroos in their natural habitat. Without a doubt, Straddie should be a part of any extended stay in the Brisbane area.
