  Roussillon houses
by King_Golo

Roussillon could also be called "village rouge" (=the red village), as it is situated amidst the ochre rocks that have for centuries been used to limewash the houses of the area. The village is very beautiful, especially in the soft morning or evening light when the houses seem to glimmer. Apart from the unusual colour, Roussillon is quite similar to other Provencal villages: narrow alleys, old houses, a beautiful little church and the flair of a summer evening in Provence. Visiting there is highly recommended!
