Life at the former Finlayson Mill
by Airpunk

Similar to the Tampella Complex on the other side of the Tammerkoski, also the Finlayson textile mills are no longer in use. The decline of the heavy industries and the outsourcing to cheaper plants have made these 19th century halls obsolete. Unlike Tampella, Finlayson is still in business. But its former halls do no produce pillows and sheets anymore. Instead, a whole new quarter was built on the Finlayson grounds. There are some living houses and offices, but the most important part is the agglomeration of restaurants and bars close to Satakunnankatu, close to the bridge. The range is large from a simple café to fine restaurants. Panimoravintola Plevna is a great beer house which is recommended in a separate tip. And for the night out, there is even a multiplex cinema.

Address: Satakunnankatu/Kunninkaankatu
Directions: At the northwestern edge of the Tammerkoski, facing Tampella and Vapriikki.
