"Brooke Memorial" Brooke Memorial Tip by Willettsworld

Brooke Memorial, Kuching: 5 reviews and 7 photos

The Brooke Memorial stands outside the Old Courthouse. I remember seeing it on TV for the first time when Michael Palin visited it as part of his Full Circle travel series. Dedicated to one of Sarawak's white rajahs, in this case, Charles Brooke, the second rajah, it stands at 6 metres high and was commissioned in 1924. At each corner is a bronze figure representing the Sarawakian community: Dayak, Kayan, Malay and Chinese.
