"Decorative houses/buildings" Melaka Things to Do Tip by Willettsworld

Melaka Things to Do: 814 reviews and 1,678 photos

Take some time to walk around the Chinatown area of Malacca as you'll come across some lovely, decorative Chinese houses and shophouses and small Chinese temples. This area forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site buffer zone. You'll find shophouses along Jalan Hang Jebat (Jonker Street), the elite residences along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Heeren Street), and various places of worship along Jalan Tokong (Temple Street), Jalan Tukang Emas (Goldsmith Street) and Jalan Tukang Besi (Blacksmith Street). In total, there are about 600 properties within this zone, including the cross streets that run perpendicular to the main streets such as Lorong Hang Jebat, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Jalan Hang Lekiu and Jalan Hang Lekir.
