China Things to Do: 765 reviews and 1,190 photos

The 80-story, 1,283-foot (391-meter) CITIC Plaza is the centerpiece of a massive development project in Guangzhou's Tien Ho district. It is one of the world's tallest buildings, and is the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world.

Designed by the Hong Kong-based architectural firm of DNL Architects and Engineers, the CITIC Plaza was built between 1993 and 1997. It is part of a complex of the same name that includes two 38-story residential towers. The office building is the headquarters of the China International Trade and Investment Corporation (CITIC).

Nowadays, the construction of super-tall skyscrapers has shifted from the United States to Asia. China currently has more buildings over 1,000 feet (305 meters) either completed or under construction than any other country in the world.

Directions: The CITIC Plaza is located at 233 Tien He Road North.
