Buses will stop at the Kuala Terengganu Bus Station. I'm not so sure exactly where it's located, but one thing for sure it's definitely somewhere in Kuala Terengganu. Here, you will find other buses and taxis which will take you to Merang Jetty. It's about 40-45 min drive to get there.

Taking the local bus can save money but you'll suffer the long journey and the stops along the way. I'm not so sure how much is the taxi fare to Merang Jetty since I had made an arrangement with the resort for ground transfer as well. It's good to ask the locals for the usual rates first and do look for a decent looking cabbies...they might charged you reasonably.
