Cicerellos: "Is It Really The Best Fish & Chips?" Fremantle Restaurant Tip by Aidy_p

We were not sure of the location and had to stop an elderly lady who was walking her dog, for directions. She didn't sound local. Come to think about it, she might have been an Italian or something. Anyway, we should be talking about food here, and not about the sweet ol lady.

We needed to find our way to Cicerellos, reputed to be the number one fish and chips store in Fremantle. The lady though, felt that all three fish and chips store - Sweetlips and Kailis being the other two, were all about the same standard, though the costliest would be Cicerellos.

Unperturbed, we were on the hunt for the best.

Favorite Dish: We had a go at their Fish & Chips. The first un-service like thing I'd experienced was that we need to pay for our sauces - tomato and mayonnaise. Ok, we are pretty pampered back home as the restaurants allow you to take as much sauces as you would like to consume.

But the bearbug of everything was that the fish and chips were not even the nicest that we have tasted. I had good memories of Fremantle and its Fish & Chips but I've never had it this bad.

Even though they were using premium New Zealand Hoki Fish, the batter was soft and the fries were mushy. Maybe the weather was a little cooler but I don't think everything would have become soft and mushy within five minutes. Really not satisfying at all.
