This monument was built in by Catholic Bishops in 1968 in hopes of attracting more constituents to the congregation. It was intended to be a Shrine to the Missionaries, but that program of having a large complex was canceled and in 1980, this concrete structure was given to the city. It is 210 feet high and has a panorama said to be able to see for 20 miles in all directions. There is a secondary overview area a bit further down from the top. A film inside is of poor to fair quality, and the museum is mostly a joke.
Open form mid May to Mid October, and 9-6 daily. The cost of $6.50 is a rip off for the 15 minute viewing. Combined ticket can be obtained to also see the close by Valley Camp Ship museum.
