depending how far you want to walk, a lovely walk that takes in these examples of village london starting at hampstead tube and after a wander around this part either:
short walk: just down the hill from the tube, walk down flask walk down the hill and well walk and onto the heath. Head straight/left following your nose and you'll find youself at Kenwood house (Adams brothers design and summer evening concerts plus a jolly nice tea shop) then you can walk along the road or parallel on the heath to highgate village.
longer walk: down the high street to the police station, down downshire hill (stop off at Keats house) and then, just before the train station, up the road towards the heath - from there you can head leftish to parliament hill field where the kites go up and then up up up towards kenwood and highgate. highgate hasn't changed much though you can get a better cup of coffee than in the old days as its gone a bit more corporate.

Directions: hampstead and highgate villages
