St.Gilgen - a great halfday-trip from Salzburg
Mozarts mother was born in St.Gilgen and right in the very centre of St.Gilgen is Mozartplatz with a statue of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, playing his violin.
The lovely church of St.Gilgen is well worth a visit.
It dates back to the year 1300 and was rebuilt into baroque style in 1767.
It was the wedding-church of the grandparents of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his mother Maria Walpurga Pertl - born in Sankt Gilgen - was baptized there.
My nd photo: The townhall of Sankt Gilgen is maybe the most beautiful of all the buildings there.Just take a closer look at the lovely ornaments around the windows and the lovely bay-window.
My 3rd photo: There is a nice museum, showing a lot of different musical instruments of all peoples of the world.
The museum is open:
Monday-Friday 09.00a.m.-12.00 + 02.00p.m.-06.00p.m.
saturday 09.00a.m.-01.00p.m.
The museum is closed between November 12th and december 7th
entry-fee is 2,50-4,00 Euros

My last 2 photos: St.Gilgen is famous for its lake and watersports !

Directions: The bus takes 50 min from Salzburg to St.Gilgen!
