"The Emperor's Train" Bad Wimpfen Things to Do Tip by christine.j

Exactly 775 years ago, Emperor Frederic II came to Bad Wimpfen to deal with his rebellious son, King Henry VII. That's the reason Bad Wimpfen stages several parades and a play this year, 2010.
But do you know who is more powerful than an emperor??
Football, also called King Footbal in German!
When we arrived to watch the parade and learn more about the Middle Ages at one of the many stalls and stages, we saw a sign saying "change of programm due to the quarterfinal of the World Cup". Several very interesting lectures and plays had been moved to early morning, and were already done and finished with when we arrived.
And then, by about 3pm, all the vendors closed their stalls, all the people went either home of into a pub, Bad Wimpfen was a ghost town by 4pm. The only sounds you could hear were the loud groans or cheers.
But before this, we watched the parade and it was marvellous! These people really live their parts! I could only admire them, it was very hot, more than 30° and they were wearing the long, woolen costumes.
Directions: All through Bad Wimpfen's old town and up to the towers.
