"The Castle at Cawdor" Cawdor Things to Do Tip by IanHB

Cawdor Things to Do: 1 reviews and 0 photos

So you read your Shakespeare, and know Macbeth was Thane of Cawdor and Thane of Fife....so here is the castle. And that is the end of Shakespeare's connection. However, it is a great little castle to visit - looks appropriately scottish baronial, you cross on a drawbridge and into a tower house with low doors, small windows and very thick walls. Its still lived in, and is full of art works, including some contemporary - a good place to visit.
The gardens are excellent, and there is a maze.
Nearby in the village is the Cawdor Inn, a good real ale pub with food. What else do you need?

Address: Cawdor village, Nairn
