Newborough town in Anglesey was originally founded by Edward I 1294, to house the Welsh people he evicted from Llanfaes, to build Beaumaris Castle. In the 16th century, Newborough was the county town of Anglesey and was once home to a thriving marram grass industry, used for producing matting, nets and rope.

Nowadays it is a quite North Wales town with beautiful views of Snowdonia and the Menai Straits and a good starting point for some excellent walking opportunities. There is a bus that stops here from Bangor and Llangefni, a post office and licensed corner shop, and a fish and chip shop, sadly the local pub has closed.

Directions: Reach Newborough village by turning off for Llys Rhosyr at Newborough village (shop, post office, chippie, campsites/caravan parks).
