"Cruise on the Vistula" Krakow Off The Beaten Path Tip by Dabs

We had read that you could take a cruise from Krakow to see Tyniec Abbey but unfortunately because of the flooding in the weeks prior to our visit they said that the cruises weren't going, I believe a dam had been damaged. Our backup plan was to ride a bike there but the weather just wasn't cooperating so we decided just to take one of the many boats on the river for a cruise.
It doesn't seem like it's a terribly popular thing to do, there were a lot of boats and not a lot of people interested in going, maybe it was because of the weather. We wanted to do a 60 minute cruise, at first they said they could only do a 30 minute cruise with just the two of us but when we started to walk away they said OK but give us 10 minutes to find someone else. The ladies went up and hustled a few young men but then they got back off the boat and ran off so it was just the two of us. The boat is weather proof, they have plastic windows that they put on for the rain but surely it's nicer on sunny days.
No commentary and quite honestly the scenery wasn't that interesting although you do get a nice look at Wawel Castle from the water and we got to see just how high the water had been a couple of weeks before our arrival by the plastic bags caught in the tree branches. I think for the hour cruise it was 25zl per person
The boats to Tyniec are supposed to run Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays leaving at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. You can catch the boats on the Vistula River just below Wawel Castle, their routes and rates are posted on boards in front of the boats and you pay on board.
