If you are a newcomer in Poland like me you have to visit the Ethnographical museum in the former Town Hall that dominates Plac Wolnica in Kazimierz.
Setting up such museum was a difficult task in a country like Poland partitioned by its three neighbours, Russia, Prussia and Austria not interested in promoting Polish science and culture. Furthermore there were the destructions of WW II and the communist regime not conductive to the development of Poland?s own culture.
Nevertheless the museum is a successful achievement. The displays are organized in a modern way with indications in English. It has the world?s largest collection of Polish national costumes, too many to count them.
