"Hiking - Don't rush it!" Zwartsluis Sports & Outdoors Tip by Jerelis
Zwartsluis Sports & Outdoors: 3 reviews and 3 photos
Most people try to rush Zwartsluis on a budget so they end up missing some of the highlights in a whirlwind. The key to seeing Zwartsluis properly is a game plan, you must know what you want to see before setting out.
Before we visited Zwartsluis we already had a look at the internet. As we are from The Netherlands we are used to doing a lot by foot and we were pleasantly surprised that Zwartsluis is a village in which everybody walks and you're trully able to explore all the sights by foot. Our two feet were our best friends and therefore we were able to enjoy all the fascinating scenery Zwartsluis had to offer. While most tour guides don't recommend getting lost in the majority of cities, Zwartsluis is the place to get hopelessly lost for an hour or so. We wondered off through mysterious alleyways leading us away from the crowds. We ended up in endless mazes of backstreets and deserted squares, the 'real' Zwartsluis!
Take time to meander - losing yourself in the maze of alleys, streets and lanes is one of Zwartsluis's principal pleasures. Throughout the old part of the village we saw the curious mixture of architectural styles left behind by the previous inhabitants of the village. The streets wind and wander with no discerrible order or object. Picturesque cobblestone alleyways are interspersed by graceful churches, squares and a small selection of pubs where we had our lunches and by the end of the day had a nice cold beer.
