The hiking path through the Ahr Valley (Ahrtal) wine region is one of the most popular in Germany. The "Rotweinwanderweg" hiking path (symbold: red wine grape) is 35 km long (one way) but it is easily possible to shorten the route. The most rewarding stretch in my opinion is the track between Altenahr and Bad Neuenahr/Ahrweiler, leading through valleys full of beautiful vineyards. At the end of your journey, you can take the train back to your starting point, they come quite regularly during daytime. All major cities along the "Rotweinwanderweg" are usuallly very crowded in High Season, so it is recommendable to go early.
