You don't have to be a fire nut to enjoy this huge fire station. Featured in several firefighting periodicals Wellsboro has been given the nickname "Firetown USA." It is rare that no one is around the all volunteer station but even if you are just walking by the enormous bay door windows just grab your attention. Take a walk past the five engines, ladder and Snorkel trucks and a Rescue that is as big as any big city's. Upstairs (yes, they use a pole to come down) is a meeting room and historical archive and library that is a day trip in itself. Oh, and by the way the volunteer ambulance got too big to stay in the station so they built across the street. Just a fun place to visit. Kid friendly tours available. Evenings and nights are the best time to catch someone there but during the day the borough office is in the same building so you could enter from there.
