Green Moss: "Hoi An's speciality noodle dish cao lau" Hoi An Restaurant Tip by Willettsworld

Hoi An Restaurants: 99 reviews and 103 photos

This lovely looking restaurant is housed in a French colonial era house opposite the Trieu Chau Assembly Hall and serves mostly Asian dishes. I had Hoi An's speciality noodle dish cao lau, a tasty soup made with thick wheat noodles, meat and aromatic vegetables. It was influenced by imported Japanese soba noodles. Local folklore says that the dish must be made from the water of a specific well, the Ba Le Well, while others argue that it is simply the distinctive noodles that make it unique. Whatever way, it was quite tasty as a small dish to have for lunch. Nice place that's out the way of the more busier establishments.
