Everyone knows that riding the subway is a quick, convenient and inexpensive way to get around in big cities. However, I must admit that I was a bit intimidated at the idea of riding the New York City subway, especially because of the different trains running on the same lines. I have to say though, if you have a good map, it's really not that hard to figure it out - just look at which station you want to go to and look at which train stops there, it's that easy! If you plan on using the subway a lot, it's worth getting an unlimited ride Metrocard ($8.25 for 1 day, $27 for 7 days; to give you an idea, a single ride card costs $2.25). You can buy them from the machines at any station (cash and credit cards are accepted). Unless you have an appointment, there's no real need to look at the schedule as the different trains run quite frequently. And by the way, I thought the NYC subway was a lot cleaner and safer than what they make it look like in movies!
