St Stephen's Cathedral, Brisbane: 19 reviews and 52 photos

The beautiful High Altar and Ambo area in the cathedral are truly stunning to say the least. Designed by Robin Gibson, Architect, for the 1980's renovation, the white marble altar, ambo and bishop's chair stand on a raised sanctuary area which is set off by the pipes of the Jubilee organ in the rear and of course, the beautiful stained glass in memory of various members of the pioneering Mayne family above. The fascinating story of this family is recorded in the book "The Mayne Inheritance" and is worth hunting down to read if you are interested in the true history of Brisbane told in a nail biting and riveting fashon. If you can get a hold of it, read it.
