Massachusetts Off The Beaten Path: 45 reviews and 54 photos

Hallet's, on Route 6A in Yarmouth Port.
I'm not sure this qualifies as 'off the beaten path' since I read about it in Fodors. But it's not a place every tourist seeks out. It is a drugstore preserved as it was in 1889. The day we were there, the sign on the door warned us to watch our step as the (wood) floors had just been oiled. It's an old-time soda fountain with floats, sodas, frappes, and ice cream. They make their own soda pop, too! The guy behind the counter who made our frappes, who I guess is the owner, is the grandson of the founder of the store.
