Nuestra Señora de las Angustias is the patron of the Diocese and there is a special devotion to Her. Las Angustias chapel is on the Jucar gorge. The chapel was built in the 17th century. When the chapel is closed, there are always two small open windows in the doors so as people can see the image of the Virgin. As a tradition, people go on Holy Friday to pray.

La Bajada de las Angustias (Las Angustias Descent) starts from calle Pilares, beside the Convento de las Petras at Plaza Mayor. The descent offers nice views of the Jucar gorge.
In front of the chapel there is a square and a spring where you can refresh before continuing.

From the modern part of the city, the way to Las Angustias follows the Jucar river and crosses the Puente de los Descalzos. After a short ascent you will arrive to the chapel.
