On your way into the area known as the "Buttes aux Cailles", on the blvd Auguste Blanqui at no. 69 is this statue of Ernest Rouselle, president of the municipalty of Paris, known for his work in helping the waifs and abandoned children of Paris during the late 1800's. The statue shows a bust of him watching over an abandoned child on the steps below.

Not far from here at no. 25 is the building (Hotel Mercure, place d'Italie now occupies the site) where the revolutionnary Auguste Blanqui lived, a man that spent 40 years in prison for his beliefs.

Metro Corvisart is the closest.
