To maximize our time we used Vietnam Airlines to get to and from Phu Quoc...we flew in and out of HCMC.

As Ive mentioned already in my Hoi An pages I wouldn't hesitate to use Vietnam Airlines again at all...the service received from this airline was excellent...on time flights,reasonable cost,and professional service.

The flight from HCMC to Ohu Quoc was only about an hour long..in a prop plane similar to a DASH 7 or 8 I suppose. There are plans for an International Airport which will enable jets to access Phu Quoc but for the time being this small and modern airport serves the island well with multiple flights daily in and out of HCMC..

We flew in January of 2010 and the cost return from HCMC was only about $ 100.00 USA..WE booked previous to our journey to Vietnam and used they're on-line service to book with NO ISSUES!!!

The airport on Phu Quoc is located in Duong Dong City and is about a fifteen or MAXIMUM twenty minute drive to the hotel strip along Truong Beach otherwise known as "Long Beach"..Its a SMALL airport and easy to get around...in fact you could likely throw a stone from the arrivals area to the departure area..You'll find an area for beverages and snacks and a souvenir area for your last minute shopping..

Outside the arrivals area is a large car park where taxis are waiting for each inbound flight...contrary to things Ive read...I did not notice "touts" hassling new arrivals with hotel offers or transport.
