Yellowstone of course, as my first choice. You can spend as little as three days but a full week or more is the best. Get off the road and do some hiking, or go with a ranger led tour. You will never forget it.
The largest congregation of 'hot' spots in one area on the planet. Yellowstone has geysers, wildlife, a 'Grand Canyon', petrified forests, hiking trails, fishing that can't be beat, a giant lake and miles of solitude if you get off the main highways.
The wildlife is diverse and you can find out more information at one of the main visitor centers. For wolves go to the Lamar Valley. You can see if your lucky elk, moose, bison, grizzly bears(if you ask where they can be seen by spotting scopes),mink, beaver, bald eagles all from the road with not much trouble.
